About the program

Chemical engineering involves production and manufacturing of products in chemical processes, including: design of equipment, systems and processes for the refi ning raw materials, mixing, compounding and processing of chemicals, to provide valuable products.

The aim of chemical engineering is to maximise productivity and product quality while minimising the production costs. Chemical engineering plays a major role in achieving sustainable development goals through modifi cation of current chemical processes using “green” approaches and development of new technology for energy, environment and health applications.

The fi rst-degree study is focused on: sustainable chemical technology (green chemical technologies eliminate waste, improve production safety and its economics) or on engineering of polymeric materials (polymers are ideal for all types of engineering applications to replace traditional materials with much simpler for manufacturing while maintaining their desired properties).

Graduates of Chemical Engineering and Technology have extensive knowledge in the fi eld of complex chemical processes, including: selection of appropriate materials, equipment and devices necessary for accomplishment of those processes.

Moreover, graduates have in-depth knowledge necessary for modelling, planning, designing, optimisation and characterisation of chemical processes.

They have the ability to assess the technological suitability of raw materials and the selection of the technological process in relation to the quality requirements of the product. Strengths of education at the Faculty of Chemistry are: high level of research and teaching staff , well-equipped technological laboratories, and very good cooperation with employers.
